Treatment
This is a minor developmental disorder that can be stressful for some women. Being a retracted nipple is due to immature milk ducts. Because the milk ducts are too short, they pull the nipple inside.
Aesthetic surgery can provide a solution here.
How does a correction happen?
The milk ducts that are too short are cut just below the areola. An internal bursal suture is then sutured that ensures the nipple comes out nicely again.

Important information
Scar
The incision is made in the least conspicuous place, namely at the edge of the areola in the shape of a crescent. Suturing is done subcutaneously and the wound seam is glued. The scar becomes virtually invisible.
Possible risks
If you are healthy, there are hardly any risks associated with this procedure. Infection is rare. Correction of retracted nipples gives very beautiful results.
However, breastfeeding is not possible afterwards, as the milk ducts, which were too short, were cut.
Recovery
You will leave hospital the same day of the procedure. This procedure causes little pain. Any discomfort in the first 24 hours will be controlled with classic painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.
You can return to work the day after surgery. You will come for a check-up after a week. The dressing should be kept nice and dry for one week.
Two months after the procedure, the result is evaluated based on the photos taken.
Anaesthetic
With the refinement of surgical technique, nipple correction is performed under mild sedation and local anaesthesia. After the procedure, you will feel much fitter as a result. An overnight stay at the clinic is also unnecessary.
Precautions
All our procedures are performed in the safest conditions by the plastic surgeon.
Although nipple correction is usually done under local anaesthetic, you will still be continuously monitored (automatic, repeated blood pressure readings, constant oxygen saturation readings, electrocardiogram) by a doctor during the procedure. Only this procedure guarantees the highest possible safety for you as a patient.
Local anaesthesia not only ensures an operation without pain, but also minimises blood loss and bruising. If you are taking blood-thinning medications, please inform your plastic surgeon in advance (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin, asaflow, cardioaspirin, dipiridamole, plavix, sintrom, marevan and others).
After your procedure, you will be given your plastic surgeon's personal mobile phone number so that you feel safe.
