Nipple reduction

Treatment

Oversized and elongated nipples can occur after prolonged breastfeeding, but also arise spontaneously during breast development during adolescence. This is usually accompanied by breasts that are too large or too flabby. A breast reduction or a breast lift are then the solution. But sometimes oversized nipples are an isolated problem.

How does a correction happen?

The excess areola is removed in a circular band.

Important information

scar

Scar

The incision is carefully placed around the areola, making the scar virtually invisible. With proper aftercare, such as scar cream and sun protection, scars usually fade quickly.

risks

Possible risks

If you are healthy, there are hardly any risks associated with this procedure. Infection is rare. Correction of oversized nipples gives very beautiful results.

recovery

Recovery

You will leave the clinic the same day of the procedure. This procedure causes little pain. Any discomfort in the first 24 hours will be controlled with classic painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.

You can return to work the day after surgery. You will come for a check-up after a week. The dressing should be kept nice and dry for a week. Two months after the procedure, the result is evaluated on the basis of the photos taken.

anaesthetic

Anaesthetic

With the refinement of surgical technique, a nipple correction is performed under local anaesthetic. After the procedure, you will feel much fitter as a result. An overnight stay at the clinic is also unnecessary as a result.

precautions

Precautions

All our procedures are performed in the safest conditions by the plastic surgeon.

Although nipple reduction is usually performed under local anaesthetic, you will still be continuously monitored (automatic, repeated blood pressure readings, constant oxygen saturation readings, electrocardiogram) by the surgeon during the procedure. Only this procedure guarantees the highest possible safety for you as a patient.

Local anaesthesia not only ensures a pain-free procedure, but also minimal blood loss and bruising.

If you are taking blood-thinning medications, please inform your plastic surgeon in advance (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin, asaflow, cardioaspirin, dipiridamole, plavix, sintrom, marevan and others).

After your procedure, you will be given your plastic surgeon's personal mobile phone number so that you feel safe.
