Mini tummy tuck

Mini tummy tuck / mini abdominoplasty / mini abdominoplasty

Due to severe emaciation, pregnancy or old age, the skin loses its elasticity. This results in excess, flabby skin on the lower abdomen (hanging belly) or deep skin folds on the upper abdomen. Sport can strengthen the abdominal muscles but can never repair the stretched skin.

When there is only a small excess of skin, mini-abdominoplasty is sufficient. This procedure leaves only a short scar above the pubic area.

How is a tummy tuck performed?

Step 1

The excess skin of the lower abdomen is cut away. This is usually a flap of skin about 7 cm high. Then the remaining skin of the lower abdomen is tightened and sewn in place. Unlike a full tummy tuck, the belly button is not loosened and repositioned here.

Step 2

No muscle correction is performed. Technically, this is not possible with a mini tummy tuck. This mini-abdominoplasty is therefore much lighter than the classic tummy tuck.

Step 3

Simultaneous liposculpture of the upper and lower abdomen is often indicated to thin the skin. A new body contour is the result

Important information

scar

Scar

The incision is made in the least visible place, namely in the natural sitting crease, just above the pubic area. The scar is thus hidden in your slip. This scar is half as short as that of the classic tummy tuck. Because the belly button does not need to be repositioned, there is no scar around it. The suturing is done subcutaneously, then the skin is glued.

The scar is sometimes red and hard in the first few months. But it fades and softens greatly in the following year. Your plastic surgeon will give advice to speed up this process. It is good to lubricate the scar with an oily cream (nivea hand cream, day cream, almond oil, a scar ointment and others) during the first few weeks.

recovery

Recovery

A mini tummy tuck does not require an overnight stay at the clinic, unlike the full tummy tuck with muscle correction.

Shortly after the procedure, you will feel little pain thanks to the after-effects of the local anaesthetic and because no muscle correction has been done as with a full tummy tuck. You can relieve any pain with classic painkillers such as paracetemol or ibuprofen.

One day after the procedure, you can already walk around. There is also no drainage tube, which needs to be removed afterwards. You can return to work after only half a week. You will have to wear an elastic abdominal band for 2 weeks.

All sutures are subcutaneous and they dissolve on their own and therefore do not need to be removed afterwards. Showering is possible after two weeks.

Three months after the procedure, the result of the mini tummy tuck will be evaluated on the basis of before and after photos. Your surgeon will then also prescribe you abdominal exercises to maintain the results obtained in the long term.

precautions

Precautions

All our procedures are performed in the safest conditions by the plastic surgeon.

Although a mini tummy tuck is usually performed under local anaesthetic with sleep sleep monitoring, you will still be continuously monitored (automatic, repeated blood pressure readings, constant oxygen saturation readings, electrocardiogram) by the surgeon during the procedure. Only this procedure guarantees the highest possible safety for you as a patient.

Local anaesthesia not only ensures a pain-free procedure, but also minimises blood loss and bruising

If you are taking blood-thinning medications, please inform your plastic surgeon in advance (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin, asaflow, cardioaspirin, dipiridamole, plavix, sintrom, marevan and others).

After your procedure, you will be given your plastic surgeon's personal mobile phone number so that you feel safe.

anaesthetic

Anaesthetic

With the refinement of surgical technique and strong advances in anaesthesia in recent years, a mini tummy tuck is performed under mild sedation and local anaesthesia. This is in contrast to the classic tummy tuck with muscle correction, which requires light general anaesthesia. After the procedure, you will feel much fitter as a result. An overnight stay at the clinic is therefore never necessary.

risks

Possible risks

This is a safe procedure. This procedure is also much lighter than a full tummy tuck.

After a mini tummy tuck, infection rarely occurs.
