Treatment
The chin and nose largely determine the profile of a face. When the double chin and the neck almost merge, a chin prosthesis can significantly beautify the side view. The chin gains more projection and the jawline is more defined. With a chin correction, both the size and shape of the chin can be adjusted.
Sometimes this treatment is combined with liposculpture of the neck to clearly delineate the angle between the neck and double chin.
Each chin correction is tailored to the individual wishes of the patient. At the same time, your plastic surgeon ensures that the correction is in beautiful harmony with the body and face.
The technology
Using a close-up photo, the plastic surgeon discusses what is possible and asks about your wishes. A chin correction is usually performed by inserting an implant through the mouth. Another option for correcting the chin is through an injection of your own fat tissue, or lipofilling.

Important information
Precautions
All our procedures are performed in the safest conditions by the plastic surgeon assisted by a professional team.
Although chin correction is usually done under local anaesthesia, you will still be continuously monitored during the procedure (automatic, repeated blood pressure readings, constant oxygen saturation readings, electrocardiogram). One or two qualified nurses are part of the team. Only this procedure guarantees the highest possible safety for you as a patient.
Local anaesthesia not only ensures a pain-free procedure, but also minimises blood loss and bruising
If you are taking blood-thinning medications, please inform your plastic surgeon in advance (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin, asaflow, cardioaspirin, dipiridamole, plavix, sintrom, marevan and others).
After your procedure, you will be given your plastic surgeon's personal mobile phone number so that you feel safe.
Anaesthetic
Usually, local anaesthesia is sufficient. A short-acting sedative is administered to nervous patients. This anaesthesia can come in several gradations, up to and including a sleeping anaesthetic.
Recovery
After the procedure, your chin may be slightly swollen and blue. This discomfort disappears after a few days. You will also feel little or no pain after a chin correction.
As the procedure is done through the mouth, you do not need to wear a bandage. You can therefore resume your activities immediately.
For your comfort, we recommend running food for the first few days after the procedure. We also recommend regular disinfection of the mouth with isobetadine mouthwash for the first week after the procedure.
Possible risks
If you are healthy, there are hardly any risks associated with this procedure. Due to the combination of antibiotics during the procedure and disinfectant mouthwashes with isobetadine, infection rarely occurs.
Your plastic surgeon ensures that your new profile is in perfect harmony with the rest of your face.
Scar
There is no scar because the implant is inserted through the mouth. The internal sutures dissolve spontaneously.
