Treatment
Pregnancy, weight loss, breastfeeding and old age can have a major impact on bosom firmness. Often, breasts become saggy and start sagging. Hanging breasts can occur in both large and small breasts.
- For sagging breasts, which are normal in size, a breast lift is sufficient.
- For sagging breasts that are also too large, a breast lift plus breast reduction is performed
- Slack and too small breasts, can also be given an extra cup size during lifting. In this case, an implant is inserted behind the pectoral muscle to enlarge the breast.
How does a breast lift happen?
In a breast lift, the bosom undergoes a true metamorphosis. The mammary gland is sculpted into the desired shape and attached to the pectoral muscle to achieve a permanent result. Furthermore, your surgeon removes excess skin, raises and sometimes reduces the size of the nipple. The result is a youthful, firm bosom that looks great in a top or swimming costume.

Important information
Scar
With a breast lift, scarring is inevitable. Currently, the 'vertical scar technique' is the standard. The former anchor-shaped scar is reduced to just a vertical scar. The scar around the nipple does not change. With time, this scar does fade.
Possible risks
If you are healthy, there are hardly any risks associated with this procedure.
Healing may be made more difficult if you smoke and/or you are obese. Due to reduced tissue perfusion, the nipple heals with a lot of crusting and the vertical scar will also have more difficulty healing. In this case, daily wound care with isobetadine ointment is necessary. With or without these complications, the final aesthetic result is just as good. Your plastic surgeon has mastered the skill to expertly address these wound problems.
Recovery
The procedure takes place in the morning. In the evening, you can leave the clinic.
When you come for a check-up after about two days, the drainage tube will be removed and you will get a new bandage.
There is usually no pain after the procedure. Any discomfort is relieved with classic painkillers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol.
After a breast lift, you will be unable to work for 1 week. You will be given a certificate for this. We also recommend taking it easy for the first week after the procedure.
All sutures are spontaneously digestible under the skin. The skin itself is glued shut. Please continue to wear a support bra for 6 weeks, during the day. An elastic sports bra with a wide band and appropriate cup size will do the trick. You can then wear your normal lingerie again. Showering is possible after 2 weeks.
Precautions
All our procedures are performed in the safest conditions by the plastic surgeon.
Although a breast lift is usually done under light general anaesthesia, you will be continuously monitored (automatic, repeated blood pressure readings, constant oxygen saturation readings, electrocardiogram) by the surgeon during the procedure.
The additional local anaesthetic not only ensures an operation without pain, but also minimal blood loss and bruising
If you are taking blood-thinning medications, please inform your plastic surgeon in advance (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin, asaflow, cardioaspirin, dipiridamole, plavix, sintrom, marevan and others).
After your procedure, you will be given your plastic surgeon's personal mobile phone number so that you feel safe.
Anaesthetic
With the refinement of surgical technique and strong advances in anaesthesia in recent years, a breast lift is performed under light general anaesthesia and local anaesthesia. After the procedure, you will feel much fitter as a result. An overnight stay at the clinic is also unnecessary as a result.
