Scar correction
Scars often appear after accidents or surgery. Aesthetic procedures always try to make scars as inconspicuous as possible.
The way a scar heals depends on several factors. For example, the location of the scar, the length of the scar, the direction of the scar, the way the wound is sutured and the skin type determine the later appearance of the scar. Scars on the face usually heal very nicely. A scar between the shoulder blades or on the chest usually remains visible.
In any case, a scar needs time to mature. For the first four months, the scar may sometimes be reddish-purple and hardened. This is temporary. Afterwards, a maturation process follows. This process takes 1 year or longer. Consequently, a scar correction is never performed within a year, because one has to wait for the result of this maturation process.`Furthermore, a scar heals better in some people than in others. Redheads and blacks sometimes heal less nicely.
Treatments
You can have prominent scars treated with silicone patches, silicone ointments, corticoid injections, chemical peels, dermabrasion (scraping the skin), tattooing or laser therapy.
If this does not help, plastic surgery may offer a solution. For this, there are several methods such as W-plasty, Z-plasty, tissue expansion and scar excision.
