Treatment
Due to losing a lot of weight or simply due to ageing, the skin of the upper arms loses its elasticity. This causes excess and sagging skin at the back of the upper arm. Exercising can make the arms look firmer again, but it will not improve the sagging skin. With an arm lift, the skin on the upper arms can be re-tightened. In addition, if the upper arms are too fat, liposculpture can be performed at the same time.
How does an arm lift happen?
The excess skin that can be grasped on the inside of the arm between thumb and forefinger is removed. Furthermore, the skin is tightened nicely. If necessary, excess fat is also aspirated away.

Important information
Scar
The incision is made in the least conspicuous place, namely on the inside of the upper arm. Suturing is done subcutaneously. Afterwards, the wound seam is glued.
Recovery
You will leave the clinic the same day of surgery. A tube or drain is not needed. This procedure causes little pain. Any discomfort in the first 24 hours is controlled with classic painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.
You will be incapacitated for about two days. After a week, you will come for a check-up and the dressing will be renewed. The scar is sometimes red and hard for the first few months. But it fades and softens greatly in the following year. Your plastic surgeon will give you advice to speed up this natural maturation process. It is good to massage the scar with an oily cream (nivea hand cream, day cream, almond oil, a scar ointment and others) during the first few weeks.
Three months after the procedure, the result is evaluated based on the photos taken.
Anaesthetic
With the refinement of surgical technique and strong advances in anaesthesia in recent years, an arm lift is performed under light sedation and local anaesthesia. As a result, you will feel much fitter after the procedure. An overnight stay at the clinic is also unnecessary as a result.
Precautions
All our procedures are performed in the safest conditions by the plastic surgeon.
Although an arm lift is usually done under local anaesthetic, you are still continuously monitored (automatic, repeated blood pressure readings, constant oxygen saturation readings, electrocardiogram) by the surgeon during the procedure. Only this procedure guarantees the highest possible safety for you as a patient.
Local anaesthesia not only ensures a pain-free procedure, but also minimal blood loss and bruising.
If you are taking blood-thinning medications, please inform the doctor in advance (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin, asaflow, cardioaspirin, dipiridamole, plavix, sintrom, marevan and others).
After your procedure, you will receive your plastic surgeon's personal mobile phone number so that you can feel safe
Possible risks
If you are healthy, there are hardly any risks associated with this procedure. Infection is rare. An arm lift gives very beautiful results. You can wear a sleeveless t-shirt with renewed confidence.
